November 28 is Albania's national holiday, marking the country's independence from the Ottoman Empire declared in 1912. To mark the occasion, our artists present works by Albanian composers Rauf Dhomi and Aleksander Peçi, expertly portraying the sonorities of Albania's traditional music.

In the same year (1912), the great Belgian composer Joseph Jongen, fleeing the Great War, composed in England his sonata op.39 for cello and piano. This season, we celebrate Jongen's 150th anniversary of his birth. A contemporary of Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy, influenced in his 'language' by the 'French school', Jongen left Belgium a great musical heritage, which you can discover at this celebratory evening!
