Chiara Enderle Samatanga
Cellist Chiara Enderle Samatanga, hailed by The Strad as “a truly impressive young artist”, is a passionate soloist and chamber musician. Born into a family of musicians in Zürich, Switzerland, Chiara spent her early childhood accompanying her parents’ string quartet on concert tours all over the world.
Her principal cello teachers were Thomas Grossenbacher in Zürich, Jens Peter Maintz in Berlin, and Steven Isserlis.
Chiara is the 1 st prize winner of both the International Lutoslawski Cello Competition (Warsaw) and the Pierre Fournier Award (London). She appears regularly as a soloist with renowned orchestras such as the Philharmonia Orchestra (London), Kammerphilharmonie Potsdam, Münchner Kammerorchester, Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich and National Philharmonic in Warsaw. Recent concerts include solo performances with the Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchester, Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, Musikkollegium Winterthur and Beethoven-Orchester Bonn.
Chiara has been a member of the internationally acclaimed Carmina Quartet since 2018.
In addition to her musical activities, Chiara is currently in the process of obtaining her Master’s in Psychology and is fascinated by the intersection between that field and the music world. She lives in Zürich with her husband and son.
