Philippe Riga
Philippe Riga is pianist, harpsichordist and fortepiano player. He trained at the Royal Music Conservatory in Brussels. Then he pursued advanced studies as an accompanying pianist with the pianist Helmut Deutsch and worked at the harpsichord with Christophe Rousset.
He is a laureate of the Royaumont Foundation.
He has participated in numerous concerts in Belgium, Europe, Canada and Japan, both as a soloist and with a number of singers, including José van Dam, Udo Reinemann, Veronica Cangemi, Hélène Guilmette, and Jean-François Lapointe. He collaborated many times with Radio-France, the Royal Theatre of La Monnaie, Brussels and with the Anima Eterna orchestra, under the direction of Jos Van Immerseel, on fortepiano and harpsichord.
He has recorded two CD’s on a Erard piano: one about by Irène Poldowski’s French songs with soprano Elise Gäbele (Musique en Wallonie Label) and another about Gabriel Fauré’s most intimate songs with tenor Thibaut Lenaerts (Muso Label).
He has accompanied numerous masterclasses under the direction of Helmut Deutsch, José van Dam, Andreas Scholl, Tom Krause, June Anderson, Jard Van Nes and Daniel Ottevaere.
Since 2011, Philippe has been appointed official pianist at the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition for Singing in Brussels.
Philippe is a member of the faculty at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel as a pianist-coach for the voice department under the direction of José van Dam. He also teaches piano accompaniment at the Royal Music Conservatory in Brussels.
