Sophie Hallynck
After her studies at the “Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris”, back to Belgium she obtained in the “Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Bruxelles” the high diploma in both harp and chamber music with the highest marks with Francette Bartholomée. Two days later she became solo harpist of the “Opéra Royal de Wallonie” after a challenging audition.
Very much involved in the Belgian music life, Sophie Hallynck, among her different activities, was for a few years vice-president of the « Jeunesses musicales de la communauté française de Belgique » (youth music movement) and is since 2005 president of the harp association « les amis de la harpe mosane »; this association organizes the International harp competition Félix Godefroid and the “Harp day”.
Her musical activity has always been rich and diversified; we can mention numerous recordings and concerts with the ARPAE ensemble and with her sister Marie with whom she forms a steady and successful duo.
She performs regularly as a soloist with various orchestras such as: the chamber orchestra « I Fiamminghi », « la Chapelle de Tournai » orchestra, Het Nieuw Vlaams Synfonie Orkest, the Collegium Instrumentale Bruggense, Prima la Musica, l’orchestre de la Jeune Philharmonie, St. Petersbourg’s chamber orchestra, the orchestra of the « Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Bruxelles », L’opéra Royal de Wallonie, l’orchestre Philharmonique de Liège et de la communauté française de Belgique, de Filharmonie...
She teaches now harp and chamber music in two Belgian Universities: the IMEP in Namur and in the Hogeschool Antwerpen.
Among her short terms projects we can point out her collaboration with « La Petite Bande » on a single action harp - she will be performing five times the Mozart double concerto – and a French music recording with her harp ensemble ARPAE.
