Sul Yoon
Sul Yoon was born in South Korea in 1995. She is a laureate at the 2022 Queen Elisabeth Competition. Currently, she is studying with prof Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt at Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar, at the same time she is a scholarship member at Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic.
She did her Bachelor’s degree at Seoul National University in Korea, after that she moved to Germany and studied master’s degree with Prof Wen-Sinn Yang at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in München.
In 2019, she won second prize at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Hochschulwettbewerb and in 2018 the 3rd place at Johannes Brahms Competition.
Sul Yoon has played with several orchestras including the Brussels Philharmonic, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Karajan Academy Orchestra, Sinfonie Orchester Biel Solothurn, Bad Reichenhaller Philharmoniker, Seoul Arts High School Orchestra, and Seoul City Philharmonic etc.
In 2012, she debuted with the Kumho young artist concert series in Seoul.
She has been performed such as the Rutesheim cello festival, the International summeracademy Mozarteum, the Oberstdorf Musik Festival, and the Allegro vivo Festival.
In the 2019/20 season, she was picked for the Masterclass at the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein (prof. Jens-Peter Maintz) where she participated as a scholarship student.
She took part in many masterclasses and learned from David Geringas, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Daniel Müller Schott, Troles Svane, Jerome Pernoo and Alto Noras etc.
