Sungmin Ahn

Sungmin Ahn is one of South-Korea's most compelling composers and a frequently commissioned composer by performers and ensembles.

His work is known for incorporating not only his own creative ideas but also each performers’ special characteristics. His music has been performed at numerous international music festivals and concert halls in various countries such as Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Norway, the UK, the USA, China/Taiwan, Japan and Korea.

While Sungmin was studying at Korea National University of Arts, he won at International Edvard Grieg Competition in 2009, Norway. After graduation in Korea, he studied at Royal Conservatory in The Hague.

Currently, Sungmin is passionate about composing his own series of pieces using his own technique of ‘Transformable Music’ which is a series of re-contextualized pieces, created by adding and altering layers to his own pre-existing works, as well as composing commissioned works.
